Who can host a Solar Mosaic?
Schools, places of worship, non-profits, community centers, and small businesses can all become Solar Mosaic Site Hosts. Have a big, open roof and want your utility payments to support a green revolution instead of a bank or utility? Want to engage with your neighbors, customers, city, and country in a new and rewarding way? If yes, then a Solar Mosaic may be right for you. Technical details such as your roof’s health, roof layout, and your current utility costs will help us figure out whether Solar Mosaic can help you become a part of the community solar movement.
Who can create a Solar Mosaic?
Anyone can create a Solar Mosaic. Solar Mosaic supports individuals, organizations, and communities interested in starting a solar project. We work with you every step of the way from assessing the suitability of a potential site to crowd-funding for your solar installation. We’re still in the process of creating tools to make this easier for more and more people to do--and we’d love to hear your feedback. In addition, Solar Mosaic’s dedicated team provides legal, financing, marketing, and technical support to help you achieve your solar dream.
Who is going to purchase Tiles in our project?
With Solar Mosaic’s online platform, anyone can purchase Tiles in your project. Many people would like support solar power but are unable to install a project on their own roof due to high upfront costs, shade trees or because they’re a renter. Through our online platform and media work, we’ll help drive Tile sales from these people and many more to your solar project.
What is a Community Solar Lease?
It’s a type of solar financing where someone else owns the installation on your property, and you pay to use the power the system produces on a monthly basis. Currently, most small-scale solar development is done through leases because Site Hosts can start saving from Day 1 without any upfront costs. Solar Mosaic leases pass the savings due to zero-interest rate financing from crowdfunding (as compared to excessive bank rates) onto the site hosts.
What happens to the solar installation after the lease?
The system is leased to you for 20 years, with the option to purchase after 7 years. After the lease period is up, the Site Host can buy the system at fair market value. If Mosaic doesn’t have an appraisal completed in 3 months, ownership of the system will transfer to the Site Host by default with no obligation to make additional lease payments.
Who will install the system?
Solar Mosaic only contracts with experienced installers who meet NABCEP certification. Through our partnership with Sungevity, we are able to tap into one of the best established installer networks in the country. We work with them to do a custom site survey, design the system and carry out the installation once the project is fully financed.
Is today’s solar technology reliable?
Today’s solar technologies are efficient, safe and reliable. The panels in your system come with a manufacturer warranty of 25 years and an expected lifespan of 40 years. The inverters are warranted for 15 years and installers have additional warranties for the whole system.
